20th Century Fox just dropped their new trailer for their upcoming X-Men movie, Dark Phoenix. This newest X-Men film is adapted from the famous Dark Phoenix comic and after watching the trailer it seems to be pulling a few story points from 2006’s X-Men: Last Stand. Check out the trailer below!
The film stars Sophie Turner in the leading role as Jean Grey with James McAvoy returnig as Charles Xavier, Jennifer Larence as Mystique, and Evan Peters as Quicksilver. And also shows Michael Fassbender returning as Magneto alongside Storm (Alexandra Shipp), Red Lotus (Andrew Stehlin), Beast (Nicholas Hoult), and Nightcrawler (Kodi Smit-McPhee).
Now, the point of a trailer is to get people excited for an upcoming project. Did this trailer do its job? For me, no. First off they have spoiled the death of one of the main characters. Its not even an accidental spoiler. The entire trailer revolves around the death of Mystique. And as far as trailer structure goes, its messy – something that is probably reflective of the film its advertising. Up until now its been said that the main threat would be Jean who is taken over by the Phoenix force. But who are those guys on the train with the X-Men in chains?
After seeing this trailer I have to admint, I’m not looking forward to this film. And it is unfortunate, because this may be the last time we see an X-Men film that is handled by Fox. With the Disney buyout of Fox on the horizon this is an almost assured inevitability. Also, I have heard from someone, who knows someone, that has seen early cuts of the film. And their consensus – its not good, not only is it not good, its terrible. I didn’t want to put too much stock in the rumor, however after seeing this trailer I tend to believe it now.
However, take all of that with a grain of salt. We have seen great movies with terrible trailers before.
What did you think of the trailer? Are you excited for the new movie, or not? Leave a comment below and let’s make a discussion about it.
The first trailer for the X-Men movie, Dark Phoenix debuted on The Late Late show on Wednesday and shows the loved mutant superhero team fighting against on fo their own: Jean Gray (Sophie Tuner), who is consumed by an evil and powerful cosmic force.
Well, here is a bit of news a little more serious than what I normally write about. However, it’s interesting to see how this situation could completely change the way we, as movie fans, see newly released films.
In a report put out by Variety six of the seven biggest Hollywood studios are making a push to offer movies in homes on digital download only weeks after a movie is released into theaters.
Nothing is set in stone yet, but apparently when discussions first started it looked like the studios would make their digital downloads available 17 days after the film debuted in theaters for the low, low price of $50. However, some studios, particularly Fox and Universal, feel that $50 is too high of a price to ask consumers to pay for a digital rental. Therefore, they are trying to convince other studios to make movies available between 30 to 45 days after the theater launch and only charge $30 as the rental price.
The one studio not interested in these talks is Disney – due to not wanting to shorten the time window that a particular movie can stay in theaters. This is no surprise that Disney has zero interest in this deal due to owning the rights to Marvel, Star Wars, and all their animated movies. These properties tend to have runs in the theaters longer than any other property put out by any other studio. A deal like this could actually hurt profits for Disney.Continue reading “Studios Might Offer New Releases For Digital Download”
After the success of the last Wolverine movie, The Wolverine, Hugh Jackman is ready to put back on the claws for one last round!
Jackman has been playing the character since X-Men back in 2000, and it looks like the 47-year-old actor is about ready to retire from the character, but not before going out in an R-Rated Wolverine 3!
At a press junket in London for the upcoming X-Men: Apocalypse, Collider got a chance to sit down with producer Simon Kinberg who teased that maybe Patrick Stewart will co-star in the movie and confirmed an R-rating by saying: Continue reading “Wolverine 3 is R-Rated”
It was announced nearly a year ago that Lionsgate would be creating a live action, modern, version of the 90’s hit series, Power Rangers. And after a year of speculation, and small nuggets of news here and there we finally have a look at what the costumes of these teenage heroes will be.
The image was first reported by Entertainment Weekly Thursday morning and showcasing the five rangers – Naomi Scott as the Pink Ranger, singer Becky G. as the Yellow Ranger, RJ Cyler as the Blue Ranger, Ludi Lin as the Black Ranger, and Dacre Montgomery as the Red Ranger – in their new costumes. Despite criticisms that are already happening, one thing is certain – the new costumes will definitely protect the rangers better than the 90’s spandex costumes. Check out the new costumes below!
Almost a year ago Entertainment Weekly released some photos of the upcoming X-Men: Apocalypse movie that featured a few of the X-Men and Apocalypse himself. And with the release of the those photos came an outcry from all over the internet that shredded the look of the first mutant. Saying that he looked like the Mighty Morphing Power Rangers villain Ivan Ooze (check out a picture of Ooze here). It looks like Bryan Singer, director of X-Men: Apocalypse heard the millions of voices crying out in terror.
In an interview with IGN Singer explained his choice for selecting Oscar Isaac for the part of Apocalypse.
There was an image released on Entertainment Weekly, where the effect hadn’t been put in yet, so everyone was – the effect has a pink light on it, and everyone got lit up pink, so people thought Apocalypse was going to be pink. I was like, ‘No no, they’re all pink. Take a look.’ I’m going to take some blame for that. My fault, not Entertainment Weekly’s. That’s the picture I game them.
Its coming, every day it inches closer to the day where the much anticipated summer blockbuster, X-Men: Apocalypse will be upon us!! And to quench this thirst for more X-Men until the release date we get these awesome new character posters via MovieFilms. Check them out below!
With this new film we get a slew of familiar mutants played by new actors in Sophie Turner as Jean Grey, Olivia Munn as Psylocke, Tye Sheridan as Cyclops, Alexandra Shipp as Storm, Kodi Smit-McPhee as Nightcrawler, Ben Hardy as Angel, and Oscar Isaac as the world’s first mutant Apocalypse. And returning to join these new mutants are James McAvoy as Professor Xavier, Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique, Evan Peters as Quicksilver, Nicholas Hoult as Beast and Michael Fassbender as Magneto.
X-Men Apocalypse is set to be released this summer, May 27th.
This is the first Q&A question for Reel Movie News! I have gathered a bunch of questions and will be answering them here. They can be anything in regards to movie related topics. If you would like your question answered you can send it in on my Facebook Page, or email me at firstname.lastname@example.org
Once a week I will take a few questions and answer them. If you do not see your question one week I will eventually get to it.
And without any further ado, let’s get the very first question which comes from Bethany Lopez who wrights:
Ok, so in Wolverine Origin, how could he survive a special bullet to the head? I feel like if he was shot and he was actually presumed dead he should BE dead. I know he’s next to immortal, but he freaking died!
After 12 Days of Deadpool we finally got our big gift promised to us. Two trailers, in fact — one that Fox dubbed “nice,” seen here, and one dubbed “naughty.” Check out the naughty, Red Band, trailer below. Neither trailer can truly be deemed “safe for the family.” However, would you expect any more from Deadpool this Christmas?
Directed by Tim Miller and written by Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese, Deadpool stars Ryan Reynolds (who also co-produces) as the Merc with the mouth, along with Morena Baccarin, Gina Carano, Ed Skrein, T. J. Miller as Deadpool’s only friend, Weasel. Along with Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead, and Stefan Kapičić as Colossus. Yes, this is in the same universe as the beloved X-Men movies, and yes Negasonic Teenage Warhead and Colossus are part of the X-Men Universe. Just in case you were wondering.
Deadpool kicks off the comic book movies this 2016 on February 12.
The film is based on one of Marvel Comic’s most controversial comic book character. The film synopsis reads as follows, Deadpool tells the origin story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson, who after being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopts the alter ego Deadpool. Armed with his new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humor, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life.
The upcoming Gambit movie is slowly coming together after it’s original director Rupert Wyatt left the project last month due to “creative differences”. However, these “creative differences” haven’t stopped Fox from pushing on with sourcing his replacement for the stand-alone X-Men film. Channing Tatum, who will be staring as the card throwing cajun, recently threw Doug Liman‘s (Edge of Tomorrow) name into the hat. However, if this new report from Heroic Hollywood is accurate then Liman may not be the only director that Fox is looking at.
