Spider-Man: Homecoming is the first full length super-hero movie collaboration between Disney’s Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures. And, I have to say, they did an outstanding job! In this newest iteration of Spider-Man Peter Parker, who is a 15-year-old kid, is trying to figure out what it means to be a super-hero as well as a normal teenager. This movie is very much a high school drama/coming of age type of movie. It shows real struggles that teenagers face as they go through high school, as well as portraying how a teenage superhero may deal with those struggles.
Starting off, I have to say that this movie is a lot of fun. It has a familiarity that ties it perfectly into the existing Marvel Cinematic Universe, yet still manages to feel different. The young-adult aspect is something that is central in all the early versions of the Spider-Man comics, yet, until now, has not been accurately portrayed on the big screen. A new trailer for the much anticipated Spider-Man: Homecoming arrived this morning and it gives audiences a closer look at the newest version of our friendly neighborhood Spider-Man. It also confirms that Iron Man/Tony Stark is probably going to have a much bigger role than people originally guessed. Check out the trailer below!
In this newest trailer we are not only getting a better look at the web-head and Stark, but also of Michael Keaton‘s Vulture/Adrian Tooms. Continue reading “Sony Releases 2nd ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ Trailer”
It’s been a while since we heard anything coming out of Sony/Disney about the upcoming Spider-Man: Homecoming. However, the silence has been broken. Yesterday, via the official Spider-Man: Homecoming twitter account, two new posters were released of the webslinger, and this morning we got one more.
The first photo shows Spider-Man lying next to the East River with the very well-known Avengers Tower in the background with the caption, “Homework can wait. The city can’t.” The second shows the web-head attached to the side of the same tower, and the third a little of the same, however Spidey attached to a sign for the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway with a caption that reads, “Quickest way to get home.” Check out all three posters below!

Everyone’s favorite web slinger is back after getting our first taste of the wall-crawler in Captain America: Civil War. Here it is, our first real good look at the new stand alone Spider-Man movie.
Spider-Man Homecoming stars Tom Holland as the iconic web-head as well as Marisa Tomei as Aunt May, Zendaya as Peter’s high school crush Liz, and Michael Keaton as The Vulture. Also, making a guest appearance is Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark.
The film is directed by Jon Watts who’s best known work to date is 2015’s Cop Car. Watts has stated in many interviews that in this new Spider-Man movie he would be going for a “John Hughes” feel. For those who don’t know what that means check out Hughes’ best work in Ferris Bueller’s Day off and The Breakfast Club.
After watching this trailer I can deffinetly feel the John Hughes vibes coming through. However, it still feels like a Spider-Man movie. And that is enough to get me excited.
This trailer not only gives us a first look at Sony’s new Spider-Man film, but it also lays to rest all of the rumors and speculation round who Zendaya would be playing.
Back in August there were many sites claiming that she would be the iconic Peter Parker love interest Marry Jane. Due to Zendaya not being a natural redhead, this brought up lots of controversy. You can see my post on the matter here.
After watching the trailer we do get a really quick look at Zendaya’s character as she calls out Peter for being creepy. We still do not have a name for the character, however, it should be a safe assumption that she will not be the girl-next-door Marry Jane.
Spider-Man: Homecoming is still set for a release date of July 7th, 2017. After seeing this trailer, I can not wait.
Its been rumored for a while that we would be getting characters form the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Sony’s new Spider-Man film. When hearing this I, and many others, assumed that it would be a small cameo from someone like Jeremy Renner‘s Hawkeye or Scarlett Johansson‘s Black Widow. If reports are to be believed I, and many others, are very wrong.
According to Variety Robert Downey Jr. will be appearing as Tony Stark in Sony’s Spider-Man: Homecoming. However at this time it is not known just how big Downey’s role will be. Continue reading “Tony Stark Will Appear in Sony’s ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’”
