Set Photos for Steven Spielberg’s ‘Ready Player One’ Have Surfaced Showing Gremlins, A DC Superhero And More!

Ernest Cline‘s famous 2011 Novel “Ready Player One” is very well known for not only being a best selling novel, but also for its hundreds of movie, TV, music, and pop culture references that harken back to the 80’s.  Some of the best references in the novel are Steven Spielberg movie references.

Funny enough, Steven Spielberg is now in the process of making a film adaptation of Cline’s novel, and it looks like production is now full steam ahead!

Set pictures of Ready Player One have been released on Twitter thanks to twitter user Michelle Green.  The pictures portray spray painted images of different 80’s and 70’s icons like DC Comic’s The Flash, Street Fighter’s Sagat,  the mogwai, Gizmo, from the Spielberg produced Gremlins, and the Shark from the Spielberg directed Jaws!

It is hard to speculate in what setting these pictures are in – either our crumbling dystopian future, or from the OASIS, a virtual reality characters in the novel go to in order to escape the crumbling society they live in .  Either way, its pretty cool.

Check out the pictures below!

More than likely these pictures are going to be seen in the background of some shots and not front and center.  But it is still cool to know they will be there – and that this film is going to be full of references just like in the book. Merry Christmas! The Red Band Deadpool Trailer Is Here!

After 12 Days of Deadpool we finally got our big gift promised to us.  Two trailers, in fact — one that Fox dubbed “nice,” seen here, and one dubbed “naughty.”  Check out the naughty, Red Band, trailer below.  Neither trailer can truly be deemed “safe for the family.” However, would you expect any more from Deadpool this Christmas?

Directed by Tim Miller and written by Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese, Deadpool stars Ryan Reynolds (who also co-produces) as the Merc with the mouth, along with Morena Baccarin, Gina Carano, Ed SkreinT. J. Miller as Deadpool’s only friend, Weasel.  Along with Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead, and Stefan Kapičić as Colossus.  Yes, this is in the same universe as the beloved X-Men movies, and yes Negasonic Teenage Warhead and Colossus are part of the X-Men Universe.  Just in case you were wondering.

Deadpool kicks off the comic book movies this 2016 on February 12.

The film is based on one of Marvel Comic’s most controversial comic book character.  The film synopsis reads as follows, Deadpool tells the origin story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson, who after being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopts the alter ego Deadpool.  Armed with his new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humor, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life.
