The first full-length trailer for the next installment in the Toy Story franchise debuted this morning on Good Morning America, and shows us the next, and possibly last, adventure for Sheriff Woody and his friends.
Sony has dropped a first look at their upcoming action/thriller movie Miss Bala, which if you translate it from spanish means “Miss Bullet.” After watching the trailer you can see that it is aptly named.
Many do not know that this Sony film is actually a remake of a 2011 movie of the same name, but what in Spanish only. The film is directed by Catherine Hardwicke, best known for Twilight, and stars Gina Rodriguez in the leading role as Gloria, the winner of a beauty contest that is force to work for a crime boss after witnessing a murder. The film also stars Anthony Mackie in a currently unknown role.
On the surface this looks like your average Hollywood action film. However, if you know the source material you can blatantly see that there is something missing. The original Miss Bala that came out in 2011 was a brutal, R rated, movie that was meant to show just how bad some of these Mexican cartels could get. It wasn’t just an action movie, it was a film that spoke of the atrocities experienced by many that are unwillingly drug into the cartel business. This version of that movie is a PG-13 film that has more of a Jason Bourne/Salt feel, nothing at all like the original.
While it is certainly possible that the movie gives a better representation of the source material than the trailer does, it is probably safe to assume that this will just be a normal action movie out of Hollywood. Miss Bala will be hitting North American theaters on February 1st of 2019.
