The first trailer for Todd Phillips‘ origin story for the most notorious DC villain ever created just dropped today – no joke. Check it out below!
Phillips, who is most known for The Hangover trilogy, is taking a new Batmanless approach to telling the origin story to the Clown Prince of Crime. Arthur Fleck, played by Joaquin Phoenix, struggles to find respect working as a clown on the streets of Gotham. However, after having suffered at the hands of many of the residents of Gotham, he spirals into becoming a manic criminal.
Phillips has described his film as a tragedy, a movie that will live separately from the newly upbeat vibe of Wonder Woman and Aquaman.
Joker gets released on the world on October 4th.
What did you think of the trailer? Are you looking forward to the newest take on the Joker? Leave a comment below and let’s make it a discussion.
Over the past week there has been various pictures and “leaks” of Joaquin Phoenix‘s Joker in the upcoming, unnamed, Joker movie.
Director of the upcoming Joker movie, Todd Phillips, has been using his Instagram to show Phoenix in different costumes ranging from plane old Joaquin Phoenix, to “Sad Clown” Joaquin Phoenix, to “Scary Clown” Joaquin Phoenix!
However, the director has not been the only one promoting this film. On September 23rd a “leaked” footage clip was uploaded to YouTube showing Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker in a Gotham Subway station. While this clip is reported as being leaked by someone on set, the footage is of higher quality and closer proximity to the action than 98 percent of leaked footage normally seen. Many are speculating that it is no coincidence that the video was “leaked” at the same time the director of the movie was posting on his social media about the movie.
Warner Bros. have been adamant that this movie has nothing to do with the current DC Universe movies that have come out in recent years, and this will stand as its own movie away from Jared Leto‘s Joker seen in Suicide Squad.

Its been reported by several sites that the Suicide Squad movie went back to do some major reshoots before the August release date. According to several rumors it was because they felt the need to add more humor to the film for it being too “dark and gloomy and not fun” like Batman v. Superman was. However, after the release of this trailer consider that rumor FALSE! There is obviously going to be humor and fun in this film, albeit dark humor, but it still looks like a fun time. Check it out!
Now, is this trailer awesome just because it’s set to “Ballroom Blitz”? Probably. But it follows that “fun” tone that the first trailer gave that was set to “Bohemian Rhapsody.” If you have not seen that trailer then treat yourself!
It’s finally out! A second trailer for the upcoming Suicide Squad (released date Aug. 5) trailer debuted last night as a part of the DC Films Presents: Dawn of the Justice League special on The CW.
Suicide Squad is directed by David Ayer (End of Watch) and tells the story of a group of super villains who are released from prison in order to complete a mission that’s nobler than the team is used to. The squad is made up of Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie), Killer Croc (Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje), Katana (Karen Fukuhara), Rick Flagg (Joel Kinnaman), Deadshot (Will Smith) Captain Boomerang (Jai Courtney), Slipknot (Adam Beach), Enchantress (Cara Delevingne), and Diablo (Jay Hernandez).
Also, making his cinematic debut, assuming there is not a surprise cameo in the upcoming Batman v. Superman, is The Joker (Jared Leto). And as the clown prince of crime said, “I can’t wait to show you my toys.”
