No Opening Crawl Text for ‘Rogue One’?!?

We are just under 6 months away from the release of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, the first Anthology film out of Star Wars lore that depicts the events leading up to the rebels stealing the first Death Star Plans.  The film promises to show a different side to Star Wars not yet seen, while still having plenty of familiar elements from the classic Saga.  However, there is one change that may happen that could be unforgivable in the eyes of some die-hard Star Wars fans.

During an interview with Entertainment Weekly the president of Lucasfilm, Kathleen Kennedy, discussed some of the differences that we could see in this film from the traditional Star Wars Saga and the topic of the iconic crawl text came up.  When talking about those differences she said:

The crawl and some of those elements live so specifically within the ‘saga’ films that we are having a lot of discussion about what will define the [stand-alone] Star Wars stories separate and apart from the saga films. So we’re right in the middle of talking about that.

If Lucasfilm lands on the side of not putting the iconic crawl text in the film then it will probably set a precedence for the other Anthology films to come.  Meaning no opening crawl text for the young Han Solo coming out in 2018 or for the still rumored Obi One Kenobi trilogy.
