Something that has been driving people on the internet crazy for nearly a year now is not knowing when the release date is for Deadpool 2. We don’t even have a confirmed filming start date for the project, but that hasn’t stopped news and rumors from trickling in; quenching the thirst of anxious Deadpool fans awaiting any kind of update on the project.
Well now we have something! Zazie Beetz, known for her performance in the hit 2016 show Atlanta, has been announced to be playing Domino, a Mutant with the curious ability to manipulate her luck in any situation so that it works out in her favor. Her abilities paired with Ryan Rynolds’ Deadpool is sure to make for some great laughs.
This announcement was not given in the usual press conference or interview that most casting news seems to come from – but is it really a shock that a Deadpool project would be handled unconventionally? Continue reading “Finally, Some Casting News For ‘Deadpool 2’!”
Over the past 17 years the comic book genre has taken the world by storm. With each year yielding more and more comic book based movies, and with these movies more and more comic book icons. While some people in the world have started throwing around the phrase “comic-book fatigue” one comic book movie icon that has stood the test of time since the year 2000 is Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine. And Logan is reportedly the last film that we will be seeing Jackman’s character, and it very much plays on that fact.
Now don’t begin to think that this film is just meant to make you tear up at the thought of no more Wolverine – it is a deliciously violent movie, filled with stabbings, loss of limbs, profanity, and tackles very adult themes like depression, and the act of growing old. It’s also extremely entertaining – reminding me of Western films about an old gunslinger (in this case Wolverine) riding out on one more doomed quest for glory. This is very different from any other comic book movie that I’ve seen in the past 17 years. It would have been very easy for James Mangold (the director) to make Logan a movie that just recycles the character’s greatest moments leading up to a great superhero battle, or just add loads meaningless gore just to get that R rating because that strategy worked well for Deadpool. He goes for something very different, and it pays off not only as an entertaining comic book/western, but also as a proper send off for Jachman’s Wolverine. Continue reading “My Review of ‘Logan’”
Over the last couple of weeks we have heard of countless projects getting new directors, new screenwriters, or just scraping the original scripts all together for page one rewrites (looking at you Warner Bro.) Well, it looks like Fox’s fan favorite Deadpool 2 is not impervious to adding new writers to their team either.
It has not yet been announced when we will be seeing Deadpool 2, however, production is aiming to hopefully start filming this summer. But before they can start filming there must first be a finished script. Over the past couple of months, the original Deadpool writers, Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, have been working to bang out a script for the “merc with a mouth’s” sequel. However, according to a report put out by Collider, Fox is adding screenwriter Drew Goddard to help finish the script.
The report also points out that Reese and Wernick are still very involved in the creation of the script, and that Goddard is being added as a consultant. Further stating that:
Ryan Reynolds and the writers have been bunkered down, working on the script together, trying to cross the finish line and create something everyone is excited to make.
While this is a story about another writer being added to a project about to start principle photography, I do tend to believe the report that Goddard is being added as a partner to the writing team, and not as a take-over. Goddard is also a phenomenal writer; having worked on projects like Cabin in the Woods alongside Joss Whedon, Netflix’s Daredevil, and Ridley Scott’s The Martian. Seeing all of these films on Goddard’s resume confidently reassures that Deadpool 2 is in good hands.
What do you think of Goddard’s involvement? Are you looking forward to Deadpool 2? Comment below, let’s make a discussion out of it

Star Wars: The Force Awakens is already shaping up for a massive opening weekend. There is no doubt that anticipation for the film is at record setting levels, with some of those records already being broken. As a result, every movie making studio is looking to attach their biggest trailers in front of the biggest movie that is Star Wars. Which makes sense – its a guaranteed massive audience. Sure the trailers will be released online, but showing those spectacular visual effects on a theater’s big screen with massive sound is still the best way to sell your movie – and the studios know that.
There have already been reports circulating that the upcoming Marvel film, Captain America: Civil War, will be attached to preview before The Force Awakens. Seeing as both are being released by the same studio overlord, Disney, that kind of makes sense. However, there is now news that the first trailer for Fox’s X-Men: Apocalypse will also be attached to Star Wars: The Force Awakens!
