Another weekend has gone by, and Shazam! continues to hold fast to its spot at the top of the box office. Everyone else fell behind by a mile!
This was an interesting weekend at the box office. In the top five positions there were three movies that are reboots of previously made movies, and one movie based on an already excising comic book IP. Meaning that Little, which came in second place, was the only movie based on an original idea that made it into the top five box office positions.
Two films made their opening weekend debut this past weekend, yet failed to make it into the number one spot – Little, which made $15 million and Hellboy, making only $12 Million. The returns for both of these films is below what outlets were predicting and below what the studios wanted Is this due to bad marketing? Probably not. Many, including myself, are speculating that their lack of box office success is due to the looming shadow that the upcoming Avengers: Endgame has been casting over the month of April. Many movie going audience members are saving their pennies so they can spend it on the newest Avengers film.
It is April 2nd, and that means that Avengers: Endgame pre-sale tickets have just gone live! And with that we get another, and possibly the final, trailer for the long awaited film. The remaining Avengers are banding together, and Thanos is awaiting another battle.
The film opens this month, April 26th, and stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Don Cheadle, Paul Rudd, Brie Larson, Karen Gillan, Danai Gurira, Bradley Cooper, and Josh Brolin.
Here’s the official synopsis for Avengers:Endgame:
The grave course of events set in motion by Thanos that wiped out half the universe and fractured the Avengers ranks compels the remaining Avengers to take one final stand in Marvel Studios’ grand conclusion to twenty-two films, “Avengers: Endgame.”

To the surprise of many this morning Disney dropped another trailer for Avengers: Endame as well as an awesome new poster! Check them out below!
The end of Avengers: Infinity War ended with half of the universe decimated and this trailer does not shy away from that point. It is sopping with an end of the world vibe – everyone’s favorite heroes operating at the end of their ropes. However, this is not the first trailer like this. The first trailer showed lots of the same, showing that Disney is really leaning into audience’s need for a resolution to the “dusting” of many beloved characters.
With the launch of the trailer was a new poster tweeted out by the official Avengers twitter page – with the big bad Thanos lingering in the background.
Captain Marvel is the newest film in the Marvel franchise, meaning that it is just one film closer to the most anticipated Marvel movie of the year, Avengers: Endgame. However, this is not just a stepping-stone movie – a placeholder if you will until we get to the main event. It is a film that manages to stay as engaging and as entertaining as Iron Man, Captain America: The First Avenger, or Dr. Strange was when they first debuted.
Carol Danvers, the superhuman Captain Marvel, is played by Academy Award winner Brie Larson. While many criticized her when the trailers came out as being very one-note, she fully proves that she can carry not only this film, but will be capable of can acting alongside future Avenger teammates Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man), and Chris Evans (Captain America).
Alongside Larson is Samuel L. Jackson reprising his role as the soon to be S.H.I.E.L.D director Nick Fury, Jude Law as Yon-Rogg and Ben Mendelsohn as Talos. While Jackson and Law turn in performances that as good as you would expect, Mendelsohn surprisingly is the stand out star next to Larson. His character has a pivotal shift that you would not have expected, and he manages to convincingly portray every turn his character takes. I would like to go into more details on this but then we are getting into spoiler territory – so just know that you will walk away from Captain Marvel loving his character and hoping that he will have future appearances in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
One of the most anticipated movies that is set to come out this year has dropped its international trailer! Check out this new trailer for Spider-Man: Far From Home.
There is no official word, yet, on if this film takes place between the events of Spider-Man: Homecoming and Avengers: Infinity War or if it is a direct sequel to after the upcoming Avengers: Endgame. However, it is speculated that it will place as a direct sequel to Avengers: Endgame.
According to a synopsis put out by Sony, Spider-Man: Far From Home shows the next chapter of the Spider-Man: Homecoming series! Our friendly neighborhood Super Hero decides to join his best friends Ned, MJ, and the rest of the gang on a European vacation. However, Peter’s plan to leave super heroics behind for a few weeks are quickly scrapped when he begrudgingly agrees to help Nick Fury uncover the mystery of several elemental creature attacks, creating havoc across the continent.
