‘Detective Pikachu’ Trailer Has Dropped!

This week is the launch of a new Pokémon game, and with it we got a first look at Pokémon Detective Pikachu, with the lovable electric mouse being voiced by Deadpool himself, Ryan Reynolds.

Along with Reynolds, Pokémon Detective Pikachu stars Kathryn Newton and Ken Watanabe and is directed by Rob Letterman who is best known for writing the animated movies Monsters vs. Aliens and Shark Tale, as well as directing the first Goosebumps film in 2015.

I’ve known about this movie coming on the distant horizon for a while now.  I’ve been very negative on the idea of making a live action Pokémon movie, I’ve been even more pessimistic on Deadpool being the voice of Pikachu.  So when I heard that a trailer had finally dropped for this film I was ready to rip it apart.  And after viewing this trailer I can say with full certainly that this is a pretty good trailer – I liked it, shockingly!

The world that they have built with a noir type of atmosphere really works for this Pokémon world.  The jokes in the trailer landed and the voice of Ryan Reynolds coming out of Pikachu’s mouth is surprisingly funny.  The look of the Pokémon also way better than I could have imagined. I now have to publicly admit that I will be seeing Pokémon Detective Pikachu.

Now, a great trailer does not mean a good film.  All it means is that they hired the right people to put out good advertising.  I may still get my chance to destroy this movie.  Or I may end up really enjoying it – either way I win.

Pokémon Detective Pikachu will be in theaters on May 10th, 2019.

If you are a fan of romantic comedies this is sure to do the trick. There has been a drought of good romantic comedies in the past couple of years, and this one looks to be pretty funny.

First Trailer for ‘Tyler Perry’s a Madea Family Funeral’

It’s here! Another trailer for another Madea film has hit the web.  However, it seems like this might be the last Madea movie that actor and director Tyler Perry will create.  Check out the trailer below.

Tyler Perry’s A Madea Family Funeral will be the 11th film in the franchise.  The series started with Diary of a Mad Black Woman back in 2005, and has had Tyler Perry in the leading role and directing from its sequel on.

If Perry is to be believed, he will be putting his Madea character to rest.  This does not mean Madea dies in the new movie, just that Perry is done playing the character. During a broadcast on SiriusXM radio Perry said:

I’m happy to kill that old bitch.  I’m tired, man. I’m doing one last tour in 2019 – the farewell tour – and the last movie is Madea’s Funeral that I shot two years ago. So we’re gonna say goodbye.”

The film is set for a release date of March 1st of 2019.

Final Trailer for The Queen Movie, ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’

The final trailer for the Queen biopic Bohemian Rhapsody has dropped and still showcases the crazy energy of Freddie Mercury through the eyes of actor Rami Malek.

Like previous trailers this one shows the recording process and stage performance of Queen’s most iconic songs.  However, this trailer goes a little bit further to show that this movie will also be tackling the more personal side of Freddie Mercury, from topics like him changing his name to fit in better all the way to his sexuality.

Aside from Male, the cast also includes Lucy BoyntonGwilym Lee, Joseph Mazzello, and Mike Myers.  There are two directors for this film, but only one credited.  Dexter Fletcher was brought in to finish directing duties when director Bryan Singer was fired from production due to on-set behavior and not showing up for filming.  However, due to Singer having finished most of the directing duties before his departure, he gets the directing credit.

Bohemian Rhapsody is set to hit theaters on November 2.  The film has been getting great reviews from critics so far, so me sure to check this out.  Especially if you are a Queen fa.

Liam Neeson Is Out For Revenge, Again, In ‘Cold Pursuit’

Our first look at the Liam Neeson film, Cold Pursuit, just dropped and shows that he is out for revenge again, but this time,  the bad guys will be put on ice.

Neeson plays Neel Coxman, a snow plow driver that finds out his son has died due to a drug overdose. However, it may be linked to a dangerous drug ring and Neeson plans on taking every one of them out.  He will find them, and he will kill them.

Blue Oyster Cult’s (Don’t Fear) The Reaper plays over the trailer, giving this potentially dark film a little more of a fun vibe.

Cold Pursuit is set for a release date of February 8, 2019.

What did you think of this trailer? Is Liam Neeson getting too old for these types of roles, or is it still fun to watch him hunt down and kill bad guys? Leave a comment below and let’s make a discussion out of it.

“How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World’ Trailer

The third, and reportedly final film in the How to Train Your Dragon franchise has dropped a new trailer online and showcases just why this franchise is so successful – it full of heart, has great characters, and still funny.

This new trailer for How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World shows that the creators will dive deeper into two key story threads; toothless encountering a potential mate and stopping the villainous dragon hunter Grimmel from making his way to Berk with the intention of capturing as many dragons as possible.

It stands to reason that The Hidden World will meet the very high standards of the previous two films in the franchise.  But we shall have to see for ourselves.  The film will be released into theaters on February 22, 2019.

Teaser For ‘The Prodigy’

This trailer first aired during the previews of Halloween and it very appropriate that it did so – its creepy.

The movie is being released into theaters on February 8th, 2019.  Are you as excited to see this movie as I am?

Terrifying First Look At ‘The Curse Of La Llorona’

A first look trailer for the James Wan produced film, The Curse of La Llorona, has hit the web and once again shows that anything that Wan touches will haunt your nightmares.

Wan is responsible for such terrifying horror franchises as The Conjuring and Insidious.  Now he brings us the story of La Llorona, a crying woman who lives between heaven and hell – cursed by her own hand when she drowned her two kids.  The film is directed by Michael Chaves, who Wan has picked to direct The Conjuring 3, so this proves that the horror director/producer has a lot of faith in Chaves’ capability in directing horror.

The Curse of La Llorona stars Linda Cardellini, Raymond Cruz, Patricia Valasquez, Marisol Ramirez, and Sean Patrick Thomas. The film is set for a release date of April 19, 2019.  Expect to be terrified.

First Trailer For ‘Miss Bala’ has dropped!

Sony has dropped a first look at their upcoming action/thriller movie Miss Bala, which if you translate it from spanish means “Miss Bullet.”  After watching the trailer you can see that it is aptly named.

Many do not know that this Sony film is actually a remake of a 2011 movie of the same name, but what in Spanish only.  The film is directed by Catherine Hardwickebest known for Twilight, and stars Gina Rodriguez  in the leading role as Gloria, the winner of a beauty contest that is force to work for a crime boss after witnessing a murder.  The film also stars Anthony Mackie in a currently unknown role.

On the surface this looks like your average Hollywood action film.  However, if you know the source material you can blatantly see that there is something missing.  The original Miss Bala that came out in 2011 was a brutal, R rated, movie that was meant to show just how bad some of these Mexican cartels could get.  It wasn’t just an action movie, it was a film that spoke of the atrocities experienced by many that are unwillingly drug into the cartel business.  This version of that movie is a PG-13 film that has more of a Jason Bourne/Salt feel, nothing at all like the original.

While it is certainly possible that the movie gives a better representation of the source material than the trailer does, it is probably safe to assume that this will just be a normal action movie out of Hollywood.  Miss Bala will be hitting North American theaters on February 1st of 2019.
