Q&A: Missing Marvel Characters?

I got another Facebook question messaged in.  And this on is from Wade Riley who writes:

Are there any characters you feel are missing from the avengers that would benefit the story line?

Thank you very much for the question Wade!

I’ll give you three characters that I feel are missing and could benefit the avengers lineup.

Right off the bat I would have to say Luke Cage, also known as Power Man.

3382229-luke-cage-comics-01He is the embodiment of a perfect underdog story.  When he was young he grew up in gangs on the streets of Harlem.  And was constantly in trouble.  But after several tragic incidences involving loved ones, he decides to better himself and start doing what he could to turn his life around.  Right around that time he is experimented on, and through a lab mistake, is turned into Power Man – who has unbreakable skin, able to lift/press 25 tons and punch through 4 inch steel plates. He also taught himself in hand to hand combat, and self-educated in law, and is fluent is several different languages.

The Avengers are missing a power person on their team.  The only one that fits the bill is Hulk, but he is too unpredictable.  Cage would be able to kick all sorts of ass, as well as act as a moral center of the team when Captain America isn’t around. (more…)

Q&A: Theater Allocations and Clearances

Hold on to your hats folks, this question is a doozy.

This question comes in from Bryan Wolfie (great name by the way), and Bryan writes in via email:

With Fox, and recently Universal, getting rid of Movie Allocations which studio do you think is next to give it up and how do you see it changing the movie viewing industry?

First off I have to say, great question!  Also, full disclosure, I had to do a bit of research in order to catch up on all of the details pertaining to this event as it is still ongoing.  So at the end of the answer I will provide links to where I got my information should you, or any of  you readers, care to look into the matter more.

Also, unless I am mistaken, what you mean by “Movie Allocations” is called a clearance agreement; which I will get to in a bit.  And Allocated Zones, are areas in which there is direct competition between theater chains.

To the readers; if you know what clearances are you may want to skip ahead to the bottom a bit, because I’m about  to get long and winded and explain a lot before getting to the meat and potatoes of the question. (more…)

Q&A: Blockbuster I’m most excited for/Favorite Marvel Character

Once again, I get to talk about myself with another opinion question! Awesome.  Sarah from Zwolle, La writes:

Hey!  I have a question.  What summer blockbuster are you most excited about this year? Also, what is your favorite Marvel character to date?

 Thanks for the question Sarah!

This is actually an interesting question because the blockbuster movie that I was most looking forward to was Captain America: Civil War – and that movie already came out, I saw it, I loved it.

So now I have to decide what my favorite blockbuster is now that I am most looking forward to.  And I’m going to admit – I’m going to cheat and say that I have two now that are tied for first place! (more…)

Q&A: Is Top Gun 2 Happening?

I have a great question that comes in from Alex Riley who sent me the question via Facebook; and she writes:

Rumor has it that there will be a Top Gun 2…how do you think that will compare to the first?

Short, sweet, and to the point.  I like it.

As for the first part of the question I can indeed confirm for you that as of right Top Gun 2 has been greenlit by Paramount Pictures and Skydance Productionsand is being produced by Jerry Bruckheimer – who was actually the producer for the first film as well.

The film, however, is in its very early stages of production.  As of right now the script is still being written by both writers Peter Craig (wrote Hunger Games Mockingjay Parts 1 & 2) and Justin Marks (wrote The Jungle Book).  Also, there is still no director attached to the film at this time.  So they still need to decide that.  However, it has been confirmed that Tom Cruise is indeed reprising his role as Maverick, as well as Val Kilmer coming back as Iceman.  (more…)

Q&A: Better Than Doomsday?

Here we have a very special type of question.  It’s a straight up opinion question – and I love me some opinion questions.  It means I get to give my truest answer and I’m not wrong in any way, shape or form.  And it doesn’t matter what anybody else thinks.

And this very special question is asked by Victoria Neet.

Which villain would you have preferred in “Batman v. Superman” instead of Doomsday?

For those you who don’t know who Doomsday is; he is a villain in the DC Universe who is most famous for being the one to murder superman in the 1992 comic “The Death of Superman.”  If you watch the trailer below you can see him appear at the end of the trailer around the 2:20 minute mark.

Q&A: Ticket Inflation and More!

Hey guys! I got two questions to answer here, but both are going to nice, short, and sweet.

Remember, if you would like your question answered you can send it in on my Facebook Page, or email me at moviereelnews@gmail.com Once a week I will take a few questions and answer them.  If you do not see your question one week I will eventually get to it.

Both questions are written in by Michelle Blackwell.  Her first question is:

Which film earned the 2nd highest domestic box office earnings in history after adjusting for inflation?

A quick note about this before getting to the meat and potatoes of the question. Adjusting for ticket price inflation is not an exact science and can only be used to give us a general idea of what a movie might have made if released in a different year.  And that’s assuming it sold the same number of tickets.  A movie that sold 1,000 tickets in 1950 may not sell 1,000 tickets today.  But I can’t account for that. This is the first Q&A question for Reel Movie News!  I have gathered a bunch of questions and will be answering them here.  They can be anything in regards to movie related topics.  If you would like your question answered you can send it in on my Facebook Page, or email me at moviereelnews@gmail.com

Once a week I will take a few questions and answer them.  If you do not see your question one week I will eventually get to it.

And without any further ado, let’s get the very first question which comes from Bethany Lopez who wrights:

Ok, so in Wolverine Origin, how could he survive a special bullet to the head? I feel like if he was shot and he was actually presumed dead he should BE dead. I know he’s next to immortal, but he freaking died!
