Guillermo Del Toro’s ‘Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark’ Trailer Dropps

CBS Films and Lionsgate teamed up to bring us the first full look at Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark.  Based on the book series written by Alvin Schwarts.

The film is directed by André Øvredal, best known for the smaller horror films, Trollhunter and The Autopsy of Jane Doe, and produced by Oscar winner Guillermo Del Toro.

Check out the trailer below.

The film has a horror Jumanji  vibe – a group of kids open a book and read from it, and things from the book come into the real world.  However, unlike the beloved jungle movie, this one has a lot more terrors in it.

The teens are played by Zoe Colletti, Michael Garza, Gabriel Rush, Austin Abrams, Dean Norris, Gil Bellows, Lorraine Toussaint, Austin Zajur, and Natalie Gonzhorn.

Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark drops in theaters this fall – August 9th.

What did you think of the trailer?  Have you read any of the stories from the book series?  Leave a comment below and let’s make a discussion out of it.
