October 12-14 Box Office

Another weekend in the world of movies has come and gone, and with it new box office numbers!

Surprisingly, there were three new releases this week; First man, Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween, and Bad Times at the El Royale – yet only two of the three made it into the top five box office spots.  Bad Times at the El Royale took 7th place. Ouch.

The story this weekend is not the success of First Man or Goosebumps 2, both films underperformed compared to what was being predicted.  The real story is that Venom only dropped 56% when it was predicted to drop closer to 70% from its first weekend, and A Star is Born dropped even less with 33%.  Both films have performed higher than anybody could have predicted in their second weekend.  Especially against 3 new opening films that most thought audiences were looking forward to seeing.

If you want to see the full breakdown of the box office this past weekend check out the list below!

No 1. Venom – $80,030,000.  Bringing its total gross in its 2nd weekend to $142,108,258.

No 2. A Star is Born (2018) – $28,445,205.  Bringing its total gross in its 2nd weekend to $94,605,565.

No 3. First Man – $16,006,065 in its first weekend of release.

No 4. Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween – $15,802,225 in its first weekend of release.

No 5. Smallfoot$9,066,837. Bringing its total gross in its 3rd weekend to $57,375,058.
