September 28-30 Box Office

A new box office weekend has gone by and for the first time in a while we actually have two new releases in the top two positions!

New releases Night School and Smallfoot, both small budget movies, one a PG-13 comedy and the other a family friendly animated film, managed to bring in well over $20 million for each film.  And while this may seem small compared to higher blockbuster films seen in the summer, for these small autumn films this is a great start.  By the end of their runs it is estimated that both will have made a decent amount of money.  So start expecting sequels.

Nothing extravagant remains in the remaining top five other than Crazy Rich Asians has finally been knocked out after 7 weeks in the theater! That’s awesome!

If you want to see the full breakdown of the box office check out the list below!

No 1. Night School – $28,000,000 in its first weekend of release.

No 2. Smallfoot – $23,020,000 in its first weekend of release.

No 3. The House With A clock In Its Walls – $12,510,000. Bringing its total gross in its 2nd weekend to $44,765,225.

No 4. A Simple Favor – $6,600,000. Bringing its total gross in its 3rd weekend to $43,066,808.

No 5. The Nun$5,435,000.  Bringing its total gross in its 4th weekend to $109,018,048.

What do you think of these numbers?  Did you see anything that didn’t make this list (i.e My Hero Academia: Two Heroes)? Leave a comment below and lets make a discussion about it.
