‘Star Trek Beyond’ Trailer #3

Paramount Pictures has released the 3rd and probably finale trailer for the upcoming Star Trek Beyond set to be released in a little less than a month.

Star Trek Beyond is directed by the Fast & Furious director, Justin Lin.  The film also stars the many talents of Idris Elba, Chris Pine, Simon Pegg, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, John Cho, Anton Yelchin and Karl Urban.

According to a synopsis from Paramount Star Trek Beyond continues the story of the Enterprise crew who explore the furthest reaches of uncharted space, where they encounter a mysterious new enemy who puts them and everything the Federation stands for to the test.

Check out the trailer below – which also features the song “Sledgehammer” by Rihanna.

The trailer itself is very well done.  Lots of great shots and dialogue that have me very intrigued.  I will definitely be seeing the movie on opening night on July 22. However, the song is terrible.

This is the second trailer for Star Trek Beyond that has been put together as a music video! The first one featured the 1994 for song “Sabotage” by the Beastie Boys.  If you need a reminder of how badly that song accompanied the trailer then click here.

In all honesty, this trailer is not as bad as that one – but the song still takes me out of the experience of seeing this great trailer! How much money did Rihanna give the production company to have her single advertised in a Star Trek trailer.  Its an advertisement that is within an advertisement for a movie.  I do not blame Rihanna for getting advertising wherever she can get it, I blame the studio for this decision.  They said yes to it – so they get the blame for making Star Trek Beyond trailer number 3 a music video.

Now that that rant is over, I am still looking forward tot he film.  I really liked the 2009 Star Trek and I liked Star Trek Into Darkness as well.  I’m hopping that this is a 3 for 3 for the Star Trek trilogy.
