Yet another record has been broken!
Over the weekend Finding Dory easy set the new record for being the biggest all-time domestic opening film for an animated movie. The record was previously held by Dreamworks’ Shrek the Third which held the record with $121.6 million since May of 2007. Finding Dory also easily swam past the number two spot at the box office over the weekend, Central Intelligence, beating it by nearly four times as much!
However, not everything about the weekend’s box office results is sunshine and rainbows. The fantasy/adventure Warcraft only brought in $7 million in its second weekend of release, barely making it into the top five. Domestically, this film has not done well at the Box Office at all. However, it is still making a killing in the international market. Where it has only made roughly $38 million in its two weeks in the U.S. in the same amount of time it has made over $200 million in China alone! So when considering the international box office, this movie is not considered a “flop.”
