Hold on people, Axel Foley is coming back!
It is being reported by Deadline that Paramount has just signed on Belgian directors Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah to direct Eddie Murphy in Beverly Hills Cop 4 – and only two decades after the third film’s release of 1994.
The powerhouse producer, Jerry Bruckheimer, will be producing this film as he did on the first two Beverly Hills Cop films that were released in 1984 and 1987. This is a very promising move because most people that are fans of the Beverly Hills Cop movies tend to agree that the third was the weakest. So it’s great to see Bruckheimer back.
It’s nice to see that there is still life in this property, because I was sure that this was never going to happen. The last anybody heard any movement on a forth coming of Axle Foley Brett Ratner was attached to direct. At the time the film was supposed to be centered around Murphy’s character returning to Detroit – with a release date on the film for 2016. Well, its 2016 now and if you look at the schedule of movies coming out you will find no Beverly Hills Cop movie.
It is unclear if this is going to be based off the same script, or if it is going to be a different story.
There is no set released for this film yet, however it is reported that they plan on starting production late this year or early 2017. I would love to see another Beverly Hills Cop movie. And I’m sure Eddie Murphy could use the work.
