It has been confirmed for several weeks now that Warner Bro. is in fact working on an Ocean’s Eleven film and that it will be supporting an all female cast.
Last week Showbiz 411 reported that Academy-Award winning actress Cate Blanchett would be joining Sandra Bullock for the reboot. They also reported that they were hearing whispers that Elizabeth Banks may be in the film as well. But as of now, that is still speculation.
However, they are currently reporting that it has been confirmed that Mindy Kaling and Helena Bonham Carter have sign on for the heist film as well. With The Hunger Games director, Garry Ross, set to direct and produce.
This new film is said to be a continuation of the George Clooney-led films, with Bullock playing Danny Ocean’s ex-con sister. With help from her right-hand woman, Blanchett (playing the equivalent of Brad Pitt’s Rusty), she’ll form a team of thieves to steal a necklace from the Met Ball in order to frame a villainous gallery owner. Shooting for the film is set to begin this fall.
Currently, the working title for the film is “Ocean’s Ocho,” which suggests that there will only be eight thief protagonists instead of the traditional eleven.
