A Former Ghostbuster Defends New ‘Ghostbusters’

Lately it seems that the most popular thing to do on the Internet these days is to hate on the upcoming rebooted Ghostbusters movie staring Kate McKinnon, Mellissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, and Leslie Jones.  And while the first trailer for the movie was not at all a well made trailer, I have to say it doesn’t deserve the hate that it has been received as it currently sits as the most disliked movie trailer in YouTube history.

With all of the hate the film has been getting stars of the film a director Paul Feig have been on “clean up” duty for the film ever since.  And now you can add a new name to the group of defenders.

Original actor and writer of the 1984 Ghostbusters film, Dan Aykroyd, took to his Facebook page a few days ago and said the following:

As originator of the original: Saw test screening of new movie. Apart from brilliant, genuine performances from the cast both female and male, it has more laughs and more scares than the first 2 films plus Bill Murray is in it! As one of millions of man-fans and Ray Stantz, I’m paying to see that and bringing all my friends!

While the female lead cast is now the new set of Ghostbusters, is has been confirmed that Aykroyd will have a cameo of some sort in the film as well as Bill Murray, Ernie Hudson, Sigourney Weaver, and Annie Potts.

I have to say I am actually looking forward to seeing the movie; if nothing else but to see the cameos of the original Ghostbuters film.

Do I think the film will be any good? From what the trailers have advertised so far I have to say no.  But do I think that its going to be as bad as its been made out to look like? Absolutely not.

In fact, I’m going to make a prediction….Ghostbusters is going to better than both Batman v. Superman as well as Transformers: Age of Extinction. I choose these movies as the bar because they both had excellent trailers and both failed miserably in my eyes.

Whether or not the film is any good, we will be able to make up our own minds when it is finally released this summer on July 15th.  I’ll be going on opening weekend – who else will be joining me?
