Wolverine 3 is R-Rated

After the success of the last Wolverine movie, The WolverineHugh Jackman is ready to put back on the claws for one last round!

Jackman has been playing the character since X-Men back in 2000, and it looks like the 47-year-old actor is about ready to retire from the character, but not before going out in an R-Rated Wolverine 3!

At a press junket in London for the upcoming X-Men: Apocalypse, Collider got a chance to sit down with producer Simon Kinberg who teased that maybe Patrick Stewart will co-star in the movie and confirmed an R-rating by saying:

I’m not sure what I’m allowed to say about that.  I will agree with you that Patrick Stewart was rumored to be a part of that film.  It takes place in the future, and as you and others have reported, it is an R-rated movie.  It’s violent, it’s kind of like a western in its tone.  It’s just a very cool, different film.

These comments say a lot besides the confirmed R-rating – they also confirm that they will be continuing the timeline established at the end of the X-Men: Days of Future Past which was left up in the air.  The only question is how far into that future will Wolverine 3 take place?  The comments also seem to give the rumor credit that this film will be slightly based on the very popular comic “Wolverine: Old Man Logan” storyline.

As of now the upcoming film also stars Boyd Holbrook as the currently unnamed vililan, as well as Richard E. Grant, Stephen Merchant, and Eriq Lasalle.  The untitled Wolverine 3 opens in theaters on March 3, 2017.  While that is still a long time to wait we still have X-Men: Apocalypse to look forward to in just a few weeks.
