Costumes for feature ‘Power Rangers’ movie revealed!

It was announced nearly a year ago that Lionsgate would be creating a live action, modern, version of the 90’s hit series, Power Rangers.  And after a year of speculation, and small nuggets of news here and there we finally have a look at what the costumes of these teenage heroes will be.

The image was first reported by Entertainment Weekly Thursday morning and showcasing the five rangers – Naomi Scott as the Pink Ranger, singer Becky G. as the Yellow Ranger, RJ Cyler as the Blue Ranger, Ludi Lin as the Black Ranger, and Dacre Montgomery as the Red Ranger – in their new costumes.  Despite criticisms that are already happening, one thing is certain – the new costumes will definitely protect the rangers better than the 90’s spandex costumes. Check out the new costumes below!

Director of the film, Dean Israelite told Entertainment Weekly that, “These suits needed to feel like they were catalyzed by these kids and their energy, their spirit.”

Also, elaborating on the new costumes was Production Designer Andrew Menzies who said, “It’s tricky finding a new language for a superhero costume…Ours is an alien costume that grows on them, that’s not man-made.  You can’t win everyone over, but we are trying to appeal to a more mature audience and gain new fans.”

Last month People showcased Rita Repulsa, a main villain in the 90’s Power Rangers show and is being, who is being portrayed by Elizabeth Banks.  You can see a picture of that below!

Power Rangers is set to hit theaters next year, May 25, 2017.

At this moment I am still on the fence about this movie.  I have to admit that I have no interest in seeing a feature film of the Power Rangers.  And I am also not over-the-moon about these costumes either.  They look like they were created by Tony Stark.  However, I was not too excited about either The Lego Movie, or Pacific Rim when I heard about them and I changed by tune really fast after watching both films.  And I have learned from X-Men Director Bryan Singer many times to not judge a movie based on the look of the costume.  If you need that lesion then check out this article here.   So I withhold judging this film until I see a trailer.
