Its been rumored for a while that we would be getting characters form the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Sony’s new Spider-Man film. When hearing this I, and many others, assumed that it would be a small cameo from someone like Jeremy Renner‘s Hawkeye or Scarlett Johansson‘s Black Widow. If reports are to be believed I, and many others, are very wrong.
According to Variety Robert Downey Jr. will be appearing as Tony Stark in Sony’s Spider-Man: Homecoming. However at this time it is not known just how big Downey’s role will be.
Sony has said that their Spider-Man: Homecoming will be focusing on Peter Parker as a high schooler with Tom Holland playing the web-slinger. Staring alongside Holland is Marisa Tomei as Aunt May, Tony Revolori as Peter’s close friend Manuel, and Laura Harrier in a currently unspecified role.
Spider-Man: Homecoming is set to have a release date of July 7, 2017. Thankfully, we do not have to wait that long to see the web-head because he will be showing up in Marvel’s Captain America: Civil War this May 6th 2016.
