January 22-24 Box Office Results

Something special happened this weekend! Two films actually moved up one place from their spots in last weekend’s box office report!

The Revenant moved up from second place last week to being in first place this week. While Star Wars: The Force Awakens, which sat 3rd last week, is now sitting in the second place spot! If you want to see how the rest of the Box Office looked last week click here.

What was interesting is that three big new releases came out over the weekend and only two of them got in the top five. Unsurprisingly, the Action/Sci-Fi film The 5th Wave is the one new film that couldn’t place. Check out the specifics on how everything placed in the January 22-24 box office below.

No 1. The Revenant $16,009,718. Bringing its total gross in its 5th weekend to $119,202,240.

No 2. Star Wars: The Force Awakens $14,078,648. Bringing its total gross in its 6th weekend to $879,110,994.

No 3. Ride Along 2 – $12,456,050. Bringing its total gross in its 2nd weekend to $58,606,090.

No 4. Dirty Grandpa – $11,111,875 in its first weekend of release.

No 5. The Boy – $10,778,392 in its first weekend of release.

After seeing this weekend’s results it’s pretty safe to guess that Star Wars: The Fore Awakens will not be taking Avatar’s spot as the global number one box office money maker of all time. It had a good run though.
