Well this is just one huge mess!
Today Disney announced that they will be moving Star Wars: Episode VIII from it’s previously set release date of May 26, 2017, and will be placing it in the Winter of that year, December 15, 2017. Follow me here, because this started a chain reactions that toppled over the all the other dominos other studios had in place.
Taking Star Wars’ place in the May gap will be Disney’s next installment in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales. This means it was actually moved up from its previous release date of July 7, 2017. But wait, there’s more!
After Disney made all of their changes official, Sony decided they would shift things around in their schedule as well. So they moved their Spider-Man reboot away from its previously set date of July 28, 2017 in order to fill in the gap left by Pirates. And is now coming out on July 7th, 2017.
And to fill on the Spider-Man hole is their Jumanji remake previously set to come out that December, but is instead being moved up to come out July 28, 2017.
All-in-all the only bad news to come out of this is that we now have to wait another 7 months longer for Star Wars: Episode VIII than we previously would have had to. The rest of the dominos falling over was just fun to watch.
