Next ‘Fast and the Furious’ Film gets a new Poster

Actor Vin Diesel took to his Instagram account, again, to drop more tidbits of information about one of his upcoming projects.  This time, in relation to the next film in the beloved Fast and the Furious franchise.  Not only does the reveal give us the title, but it also reveals one of the settings for the 2017 blockbuster.

The poster reveals that the film is called Fast 8 (no surprise there).  It also reveals that the movie is set to hit cinemas on April 2017.  Plot details have yet to be revealed.  But it is easily gathered by the poster that one of the settings of the film will be New York.  Check out the poster below.

Diesel has previously said that Dom and the crew will head to New York for some of the movie.  However, there have been talks of potentially shooting in Cuba now that the restrictions are being lifted between the country and the US. That remains to be seen because director F. Gary Gray (Straight Outta Compton) is still scouting potential locations.

If they are able to secure Cube then it will be the first American film to be shot there since the restrictions were set in the 1960s.

However, bigger challenge are ahead besides location settings.  Fast 8 will be following on the massive success of Furious 7, which tragically lost lead actor, Paul Walker, when he was involved in a vehicle crash in the middle of shooting the film.  This will be the first film featuring Dom and his crew without the character of Brian O’Conner being present.

Back in April of 2015 Vin Diesel told MTV News that, “Paul Walker used to say that eight was guaranteed.  And in some ways, when your brother guarantees something, you sometimes feel like you have to make sure it comes to pass.”

Paul Walker will indeed be missed, but I – and I’m sure we, as a collective movie-going audience – are glad to see the franchise continuing to push forward.  As Vin Diesel pointed out, its what he would have wanted.

Fast 8 will be racing its way into theaters on April 14, 2017.
