Star Wars: The Force Awakens Poster

Star Wars: The Force Awakens is just two months away and today, and Disney/Lucasfilms finally released the new  Star Wars: The Force Awakens official theatrical poster.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens

This poster offers all of us something familiar, and new.  Not only do we see familiar characters – Han Solo, Leia, Chewbacca, R2-D2,  and C-3PO, but also brand new Star Wars characters in Rey (Daisy Ridley) , Finn (John Boyega), Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac), BB-8,  Kylo Ren (Adam Driver), and Captain Phasma (Gwendoline Christie).

And looking at the background on the right is what seems to be an entire new planet or moon.  Wait, but … that’s no moon.  It seems to be split in two with a massive weapon in the middle, kind of resembling the old Death Star. Could this be The First Order’s rumored Starkiller base? And what is the story with that little guy in the glasses next to R2-D2? And one notable absence beckons the question – Where is Luke Skywalker?

Hopefully all of these questions are to be answered, with probably more questions emerging tomorrow, October 19th, during halftime of Monday Night Football‘s New York Giants vs. Philadelphia Eagles.  The game starts at 8:30 PM Eastern/5:30 PM Pacific times on ESPN.

It is also rumored that right after the trailer drops that pre-ticket sales for the Star Wars: The Force Awakens will be available online.  So if you have been planning on seeing the new movie on its opening weekend I suggest you watch the game with links to your favorite theaters at the ready.

Disney/Lucasfilms have done a great job of getting everybody hyped for their continuation of the Star Wars Saga.  It feels as if there’s been an awakening. Have you felt it? I have.
